Sketchbook Assignment Due October 24

Sketchbook Assignment:
  • Two double-page spreads of practicing any part of the anatomy that you find difficult
  • One double-page spread of master studies (find an artist who you feel depicts that body part well)

Also, remember that, if you haven't already, you should be using your sketchbook not only for the assignments that have been given, but to practice and experiment on your own time.  Practice the things you struggle with so you can get better at them.  Do things in the book to just experiment.  Use materials we never use in class.  Draw from observation, photos, cartoon characters, whatever!  Just use the book for it's intended purpose.  The sketchbook can and will (if you use it properly and consistently) help you improve.  If you struggle with anything in the class, rather than just throwing your hands up and giving up and resigning to the idea that you can't do it, work it out in the sketchbook. What if, as a baby, the first time that you tried to walk and fell down you  had decided that was enough?  No need to keep trying.  Crawling is getting me where I need to go just fine.  Don't be that way with learning these skills. Within you are good, strong, analytical eyes and a hand that can respond to what your eye sees and how it directs.  You CAN do this.  But you must practice!
